A few names in literary studies have “always” been associated with transatlantic studies. How do we press the sub-field work of author studies with a transatlantic focus–or transatlantic studies through the lens of authorship studies–beyond those familiar figures? On the flip side, what’s to be gained by revisiting those “predictable” foci like Henry James anew?

Actually, Henry Jacmes is a great example: as his Complete Letters are being published for the first time (the previous “standard” edition printed less than a fifth of them), we are learning more and more specifics about his transatlantic publishing, friendships, etc. So, too the new Cambridge UP edition of his fiction will give the variants between American and British editions, both in periodicals and as books. Again, predictably yours, Susan
